Online or Offline – That Is The Question

By Nat Robinson on May 30, 2008

A lot of folks have asked us about SlideRocket’s offline capabilities and how they can present without an internet connection on the go. We realize this is important for events where connectivity might be unreliable, when you’re in transit or just as a backup to those naughty, “unreliable” cloud applications. We have a two part strategy to handle this requirement:

#1 The SlideRocket Player is available today and if you already have a login you can download it, install it, and sync presentations from your account to the player. The SlideRocket Player application is written in Adobe AIR so you also need to have AIR installed to run it.

#2 In the months to come we’ll be releasing an AIR version of SlideRocket so that you have all the edit capabilities of the online version available to you offline. When you reconnect all your offline edits will be synchronized back to your online account. Give that many powere users edit on the go this is one of our highest priorities for future releases.

For right now we recommend using the offline player to sync backups of your online presentations for any critical presentations in the unlikely event that SlideRocket is unavailable during your presentation of you find our that the place you’re presenting doesn’t have internet.

Online or Offline? The answer is yes, SlideRocket’s got you covered.
