Would be good to have the contest the same number of days for all, with a cut-off date for entry. That would level the playing field and give a true sense of impact of each entry. As is, first onboard will have a built-in boost. As non-profits we are volunteers with limited time to build presentations…and would like not to have our organizations penalized because we couldn’t get this done (didn’t even know about!!!) in January. Please consider this ~

  13. John Rode

    February 27, 2012 @ 5:36 pm

    Hi Karen,

Thanks for the feedback. March 19th is the last day people can enter the contest, so that leaves 9 days for all to compete on an even playing field. We’ll take note of potentially adding a longer window there.

It’s also more than just views as the judges will review the presentations for the best storyline, composition and compelling cause. So a good presentation can go a long way in overcoming a lack of views (within reason). The contest is really wide open and we are seeing new, good presentations jump up the leaderboard quickly.

The FCCLA presentation is outstanding. Kudos to Texas for showing what this wonderful organization does for our youth. The skills they learn stay with them for a lifetime and make a difference in their lives as well as everyone they come into contact with.

WELL DONE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

  45. Sharon Pierce

    March 15, 2012 @ 10:40 am

I know that only the unique views are being counted; but we want you to know that the 800+ additional hits FCCLA has is because individual students are watching the video from a school account (same server) so we actually have many more individual viewers than this is reflected. Hope this will be considered….

  46. Kathy Falter

    March 16, 2012 @ 11:13 am

    I’m loving this contest! :-)

  47. Tiffany

    March 17, 2012 @ 1:11 pm

  49. Sandy

    March 19, 2012 @ 5:54 am

“The contest begins today and ends March 19th. Winners will be announced on March 28. Presentation views can be collected all the way through March 28.”

Does this mean the last day is March 19th or 28th? Is the last day to enter the 19th and the last day for views to count the 28th?

  50. Cindy

    March 20, 2012 @ 1:01 pm

Wonderful job. Great opportunity for our students to get involved.

  52. Alesha Rogers

    March 21, 2012 @ 10:13 am

I know hundreds of students that have been changed by FCCLA – it is such a powerful organization for young people. These influences are not just something that effects students in high school – but changes them for the rest of their life.
    Vote FCCLA

  53. Gennie Hamilton

    March 21, 2012 @ 10:16 am

I have been involved with FCCLA for 3 years now – and it is the best thing that ever happened to me. I wish that everyone knew how amazing FCCLA is.

  54. Tonie Allard

    March 21, 2012 @ 10:17 am

I have worked with the youth that have participated in FCCLA competitive events and you can really see the passion in the kids and the great things they have accomplished through FCCLA.
    FCCLA has my vote!

  55. Ed Howard

    March 22, 2012 @ 12:57 pm

I’ve worked with this fine organization for many years. While working in Dallas and being in the hospitality business, the FCCLA was one of my first clients. I’ve witnessed the programs and find that the results are astonishing for our youth.

  56. celine

    March 23, 2012 @ 11:27 am

It would be good to clarify the rules of the contest a little bit… Is it just unique viewers? If so, what (else) will the Jury be taking into consideration?

  57. Karen

    April 4, 2012 @ 10:59 am

Thank you for this great opportunity, SlideRocket! I have most appreciated the ability to produce the “intro” version then have those interested in MORE info able to click into another SlideRocket presentation that takes them deeper into the subject, and can include so many live links back even deeper into the web for further information. We were amazed to find a full 10% clicking through and learning more. Wish as a volunteer I could have made more time to improve the “click thru” version…but glad our contest entry “intro” version was so well received and broadly sent around the world. Thank you!!! I’ve built several presentations now for various ventures and will build MANY more!

  58. Karen

    April 4, 2012 @ 11:03 am

Oh, and one concern…I was upset that a client had not looked at a presentation I worked inordinately hard to produce FAST, only to find that her view just didn’t register, tho’ she could speak about it in great detail, proving she had seen it. Same thing has happened before…how close is the tracking to the actual viewing? And how do the times compute? I know for certain that on several occasions people have watched the whole presentation and only 1 – 8 seconds shows up…

  59. John Rode

    April 4, 2012 @ 3:41 pm

    Karen,

Glad to hear you were able to jump right in and get to the advanced presentation user who is driving traffic and (gasp!) measuring Click Thru Rate!

You should be measuring views from your Analytics tab in SlideRocket. The ones on this page are updated manually so they are far from real time. The SlideRocket analytics should be responsive in terms of short lag between view and when it registers. Did you invite this person via SlideRocket? If so, you should be able to see how that specific person performed in terms of how much time they spent viewing the presentation. Let me know if that is the case.

    Thanks,
    John

  60. Karen

    April 4, 2012 @ 9:29 pm

John, I agree with what should happen from the analytics tab. Unfortunately, though my presentation entitled M.V. Lotus has been viewed by my client, on a separate computer in another town from my location, the analytics space reports “There are no views of this presentation yet.” My client viewed it on the evening of April 3rd, 24 hours ago. And the prez is “public.” Just curious about the discrepancy. We can take this offline, if you wish. You have my email address ~ Once again, I am very pleased with this manner of building informative presentations, and see it as an invaluable tool for building “home school”/independent educational packages that can fit several levels of student within one household/class on the same subject. Keep up the good works, SlideRocket!
