Viral Marketing Campaigns – Webinar On-demand
Below you will find the recording and Q&A for the recent SlideRocket webinar, “How Presentations Supercharge Viral Marketing Campaigns”. Feel free to add more questions in the comments section and I will be sure to respond.
Q: What would be the most viral presentation Sliderocket has seen (done in Sliderocket, not necessarily by Sliderocket)?
A: Here are 3 examples of viral SlideRocket presentations
Hoshyar Foundation
Présumé
Google+
Q: How do you differentiate a commercial from a viral video? Can they both exist in the same presentation?
A: I think it’s a challenge to meld commercials into viral marketing campaigns, unless it is superbly funny, emotional, etc. It perhaps is better to tilt your story to be more about challenges your audience faces, examples of the impact on them, and then discuss solutions in a non-commercial way. Since it’s you delivering the message, people will give you credit for having the chops to be able to solve it.
Q: In SlideRocket, can you load your own presentation and have someone make comments to tell what works and what does not?
A: Yes. Just open your presentation, click the “Share” tab and check the box “Allow viewer to leave comments”.
Q: What is the difference between hosting with SlideRocket vs. YouTube
A: With SlideRocket when you edit your content it immediately goes live, so you don’t have to re-upload the entire thing. And there are no ads running on it. We don’t yet have the ability to create a “Channel” like YouTube has. We both have analytics, but SlideRocket analytics are more robust in that it tells you how much time was spent on each slide, who the viewer was, you can set the presentation to send you an alert when it’s viewed (think sales prospecting), etc.
Q: How do I add music?
A: Open your presentation, go to “File”, then “Presentation Settings” and “Presentation Soundtrack”
Q: Can you please provide us with links to recommended audio, image, etc. resources for our viral marketing campaigns?
A: Sure. I would recommend using this blog post as your starting point, Presentation Resources Guide, which includes links to audio resources
Q: What again is the time for an excellent viral presentation?
A: I would suggest 2-3 minutes.
Q: Am I right that this is a web based only presentation…not like powerpoint where you can build and put it on a projector?
A: SlideRocket is web-based but you can use a projector just like with programs like PowerPoint.
Q: What about using video and audio recordings of the speaker?
A: You can record a voice-over on each slide by just clicking the microphone icon on the left of the slide. You can also drop a video onto any slide by clicking the “Insert a video” icon on the left of your slide and the video will play with full audio. We definitely recommend using video, but for viral marketing I would suggest keeping the clips nice and brief.
Q: Can you also provide an example of a good outline version, for SEO.
A: The Presentation Outline (which enables Google to “see” the words from your presentation, is enabled from the “Share” tab and just click the “Show presentation outline” box. The outline will pull the text from your slides and place it in the outline below your presentation. It’s up to you to choose the words that match the keywords you want Google and Bing to list you for. Make sure you use those keywords in your slides and preferably in your URL as well.
Q: What is Slide Rockets role in making our presentations go viral?
A: Our role is to give you the tools to make a great viral presentation that is easily shared. We will on occasion highlight presentations on Twitter, Facebook, the SlideRocket Presentation Gallery, our blog and our newsletter. Let us know if you think you’ve got something great and we’ll lend a hand!

I like how you mentioned rich experience, because quality really has an impact on making the video viral. Quality is huge. Filler videos go nowhere.

Hi Lubna,
It depends on who you are targeting for the presentation. Students vs. adults, foreign first time visitors vs. repeat visitors, etc. But I think you’ll find it isn’t too difficult to find great images. Try searching Flickr in SlideRocket and you’ll find a great source of inspiration.
Perhaps your presentation could hit the highlights of NYC (Empire State Building, Central Park, etc.) but also key in on the people of New York (e.g., deli owners, dog walkers, etc.) and perhaps tie back to the history of NY with old photos and relate them to how things look now.
Just some ideas…but definitely heavy on images and light on text and definitely include music.

I’m a high school teacher that has used power pointg presentations for years but has never added audio with them. How do I add audio to my power point presentation in order to ad my voice to put my lectures on my website

Hi Jose,
If you are on the Pro version of SlideRocket you can simply click the microphone while on the slide and speak into your computer microphone. If you’re on the Lite version you don’t have access to the voice recording feature. But since you’re a teacher you can upgrade to Pro for free. If that is the case please email Shiela@sliderocket.com.
