It’s eye-catching, no doubt. My only constructive feedback would be to dial down all the cliches and dial up the tangible success and examples of why I should interview you. If it’s so easy to build an interactive resume like this using a publicly available template, show some more detail of skill set to set you apart from the others who an use the exact same template.

Good point on the cliches. It’s a balance though between providing gritty details on your capabilities/experience and demonstrating the commitment/initiative to impress a particular hiring manager that you deserve a closer look. Probably not the right tactic for a mass job search, but good for targeted jobs that you really want. And then at the end link to more details about yourself via a portfolio or profile.

100% agree. Like the portfolio idea.

Be VERY careful when sending “video” resumes of any format. It comes back to the age-old – and still valid – advice, “Know your audience.” Some hiring managers and HR professionals want more traditional resumes for a reason. Sure, creativity and out-of-the-box presentations grab attention, but it’s crucial to your success that you know whether the person about to receive a media-rich resume (like this one) is going to appreciate it. If you’re applying for a position in the arts or another creative industry, your chances are pretty good. I doubt this will be as well received in more conservative organizations. Do your research and find out how the prospective company works before you send this.

(Additionally, more and more businesses are insisting on online applications for a variety of reasons, and this resume simply won’t go through.)

    Good luck!

That’s true Scott. I had actually considered adding a caveat to that effect, and perhaps I will now. But as I mentioned in my reply to Rich, this type of resume is best for a targeted approach when you know your audience, or you don’t know your audience that well but more traditional approaches have not generated adequate responses and you think this might break the ice.

Marketing, Creative, Sales and the like naturally lend themselves to this approach whereas IT, government and the like are areas for a cautious approach.
