MISSION PLAN

The official SlideRocket beta program has been running for almost two months and it's going great! Thank you to everyone who's contributed, your feedback and suggestions are invaluable, please keep them coming!

SlideRocket is on track for a summer update when we expect to open up to the public and a few pilot customers. In the meantime we're gradually ramping up the number of private beta accounts while ensuring optimum performance and experience.

We're working really hard to bring you a better presentation experience and provide you with the best tools, content and services to make your presentations great. Thanks for your support :-)

JUMP INTO THE CLOUD

Well known technical evangelist Robert Scoble recently Twittered that he didn't feel the need to purchase the latest version of Microsoft Office because all his documents now reside in the cloud on various web based applications or services (one of which is SlideRocket). While we're happy to hear that, Mr. Scoble is very probably in the early adopter category for crossing the chasm so we're wondering what the rest of you think. Shimmy on over to our blog, take our productivity tools poll and see who else is ready to jump into the cloud.

Collaboration?

IS COLLABORATION A DIRTY WORD?

The promise of software based collaboration is somewhat akin to the promise of computers giving us more leisure time. The potential is there but so far the promise hasn't been honored.

Today's reality of teams working "collaboratively" on a presentation is often fraught with numerous large file transfers or email attachments, multiple versions and many files distributed across different locations. Everyone's comments and edits have to be consolidated with every version change and for this to work efficiently each team member has to be as responsive as the others. You might not want every contributer to see all the information on every slide so you end up fragmenting your presentation into even more files. You might get there in the end but the process can be painful.

SlideRocket deals with these issues by letting your team work together on a single, version controlled, centrally located file that can be edited concurrently by every member of your team. Your presentation is stored in the SlideRocket library with all your other assets and you can grant appropriate permissions to enable viewing, editing and sharing. SlideRocket goes above and beyond by letting you distribute your presentation as a URL or quickly creating a web meeting to share your slides in real time.

Is this the collaboration utopia you've dreamed of? Coming soon to a browser near you.

DEMOS

We recently launched a series of demo videos to allow you to see SlideRocket at work and maybe pick up a trick or two. There are 5 demos to watch right now but we'll be adding new demos regularly. We'd also like to see your SlideRocket demos. Send your demo links to orbit@sliderocket.com and maybe we'll host them on our site and give you credit.
